Description

"The 12th Man"
E. King Gill began the 12th Man Tradition at the 1921 SWC Championship Game between the Texas A&M Aggies and the Praying Colonels of Center College of Kentucky.

Gill was asked to suit up in an injured player's uniform and to stand ready to play if called upon. Gill did not actually play, thus began the tradition of all students standing ready to play. This well-known and cherished tradition has been passed down from generations of Aggie students and is part of the cohesive tie that forever binds A&M students together.
