"Senior Pride"
Within the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets, seniors are given the privilege to wear distinctive brown leather boots, known as "senior boots." These boots are one of the most visible and recognizable institutions of the Aggie Corps, and remain one of the lasting images of Texas A&M University.
In 1925, the English style boot was officially designated as part of the Senior Cadet's uniform. In 1932, Joseph Holick, founder of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band, opened Holick's adjacent to campus at Northgate, and it quickly became the place to purchase your hand-made senior boots.
As one of a senior cadet's "most cherished possessions" most consider receiving their boots to be a rite of passage. Students wear their senior boots for the first time after Final Review as juniors while saluting the outgoing seniors. Final Review takes place at the end of the spring semester on Simpson Drill Field and is the last event in which Corps members participate.
